Bob Haran was born November 13, 1951 in Long Branch, New Jersey and grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island, New York. He is the eldest of three sons and has one daughter, Ann Marie, a special education teacher.  As a youth he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Flatbush Boys Club, played Little League, ran track and was a Cadet First Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol. Bob was educated in NYC public schools and attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn.
 
Bob enlisted in The United States Marine Corps 12 days after his 17th birthday on November 25, 1968. After completing recruit training at Parris Island, SC and basic and advanced infantry training at Camp Lejeune, NC, Bob reported to the Fleet Marine Force and was assigned to Company D of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, Second Marine Division. He made a six-month Mediterranean deployment with the U.S. Sixth Fleet aboard the USS York County (LST 1175) in July 1969. This deployment included port calls and amphibious operations in; Spain, France, Malta, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Gibraltar and a winter re-crossing of the Atlantic. After his return to the United States, Bob was assigned to Company A of the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, Third Marine Division on Okinawa, Japan, while with The Third Marine Division, he completed jungle warfare training in The Republic of the Philippines.
 
In April 1970,  Bob was ordered to The Republic of Vietnam and assigned to Company H of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, First Marine Division and served as an infantry squad leader with Company G of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, First Marine Division.
 
Bob was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps at Camp Pendelton, California in November 1971, shortly after his 20th birthday. His decorations include; The Navy and Marine Corps Combat Action Medal, National Defense Service Medal,  Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal and, The Marine Corps Rifle Expert Badge.
 
Bob Haran attended Brooklyn College of the City University of New York as a pre-law student majoring in Political Science. While a student, Bob was a legal intern with the college Lay Advocate Center, Legislative Chairman of The New York State Concerned Veterans Association and a member of Alpha Phi Omega.
 
Bob has worked as a Veterans' Counselor at Staten Island Community College and as a licensed Real Estate Agent.
 
In October 1977 he graduated from The New York City Police Academy and was employed by NYPD as a Police Administrative Aid.
 
Bob has also been employed as a Marketing Manager for Tridon Supply, a division of Ogden Allied Corp. in NYC and as a paid Political Consultant.
 
In September 1989, Bob moved from Brooklyn, NY to Phoenix, Arizona, where he served two terms as a Republican Legislative District Chairman, 1994-99, was appointed by the Mayor and City Council of Glendale, AZ, as a Housing Commissioner, 1995-99.  
 
In 2000, Bob Haran was the Republican nominee for the Arizona House of Representatives.
 
Bob strongly believes that, "government by the consent of the governed," is the only legitimate government and that the primary purpose of government is to protect the people's natural law right to, life, liberty and, property. He believes in limited government, less spending, lower taxes, the right to keep and bear arms, traditional family values, local control and parental choice in education, a strong national defense and a secure border with enforcement of our immigration laws.
